One of our new "picks to watch" is the NYC area based band, RETURN TO THE DREAM. RttD is an alternative acoustic band that draws from folk, pop, rock, blues and bluegrass influences to create exciting, original music. Tight vocal harmonies and a tasty array of acoustic instruments give RETURN TO THE DREAM its unique sound. Each member of RETURN TO THE DREAM is a seasoned performer, and they've come together to create a cohesive and unique "Eclectic Acoustic" sound. They've recently completed the recording of a new CD, watch this site for CD release information. Band members, Diane Garisto ; vocals, guitar, strumstick, dulcimer, Tom Griffith; vocals, lead guitar, Andy Huenerberg; vocals, bass, banjo and Martha Trachtenberg; vocals, guitar, mandolin join up with a wealth of musical experiences.
With a varied career, DIANE GARISTO has toured as a vocalist with major recording artists such as Steely Dan and Lauro Nyro. She was fortunate to sing on the classic Paul Simon multi-platinum award-winning album, Graceland (buy cd here), and Billy Joel's evocative River of Dreams (buy cd here). She's appeared on Late Night with David Letterman and Saturday Night Live, and shared the mike with such musical legends as Patti Labelle, Al Jarreau, Carly Simon (Carly news here), and George Benson. TOM GRIFFITH has worked with artists such as Marc Cohn, Ry Cooder, Fats Domino, and Dave Edmunds, and won several Clio and Cannes Silver Lion awards. Recently he's produced and written songs for International Blues Challenge Award winner Toby Walker. Tom's first solo album, 40 Years Later, was chosen as Long Island's Newsday newspaper's number one Local CD of 2007. MARTHA TRACHTENBERG was a founding member of the Buffalo Gals, the first all-woman bluegrass band. She has gone on to appear in the IBMA Songwriter Showcase twice and perform with artists such as David Bromberg, Lucy Kaplansky, Livingston Taylor, and Steve Forbert. ANDY HUENERBERG is an in-demand bass player who's been in the biz since the age of 11. He has worked as a banjo and guitar player, recording engineer and professional choral singer in addition to his work on the bass.
