Coldplay kicked off its North American tour to promote Viva la Vida (buy a copy here) in Los Angeles, CA last night and return to the Forum this evening. At last night's show, frontman Chris Martin arrived with full rock & roll swagger and sex-bomb appeal that comes with a #1 cd and #1 single! Luckilly, they didn’t shy away from playing some of their biggest crowd-pleasers early in the night, and the crowd went wild for it, erupting at the opening notes of familiar songs.
The sold-out crowd was treated to a career-spanning, 20-song set list. The 90-minute show, was complete with floating video globes, confetti and flashing laser beams. “This is the first night of our tour since we became the new version of our band, Chris Martin said. “We thought where better to kick it off than our home away from home, Los Angeles. It’s where we started here in America, but we’ll probably end in Vegas,” he quipped. The band — dressed in their now-standard pseudo-military uniforms — devoted most of the show to the new album, playing only a few of earlier works.
A great LATimes article, here. See full tour itinerary here, and video clip below from last night's show-
