As we suggested here earlier this month, David Byrne (Talking Heads) and Brian Eno are self-releasing their new album, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today (cover art below, right) , their first in 27 years. It will be available August 18 exclusively through EverythingThatHappens.com. A free
download track, Strange Overtones can be found now, once you register. Also, "Happens" will be available as an enhanced CD at some point. This release is their follow-up to their 1981 landmark "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts" (support MNN, purchase a copy, HERE) and is said to be heavy on Byrne's lyrics/vocals. "When we started this work, we >
started to think we were making something like electronic gospel: a music where singing was the central event, but whose sonic landscapes were not the type normally associated with that way of singing," Eno says. Byrne will tour in support of the album this fall, itinerary here, with a repertoire of featured new songs plus tunes from the Talking Heads' period of collaboration with Eno from the late 1970s and early '80s. Reports now indicate that Eno will not join Byrne on the tour.

I’m painting, I’m painting again.
I’m painting, I’m painting again.
I’m cleaning, I’m cleaning again.
I’m cleaning, I’m cleaning my brain!
Pretty soon now, I will be bitter.
Pretty soon now, will be a quitter.
Pretty soon now, I will be bitter.
You can’t see it till it’s finished!
I don’t have to prove...that I am creative!
I don’t have to prove...that I am creative!
All my pictures are confused
And now I’m going to take me to you.
That's the first thing that popped in my head!
