John Mellencamp has announced a free, public mini-concert in Chicago, IL USA's Daley Plaza for Monday, July 21 between 6 and 8AM (local time). The performance for CBS' "The Early Show" was originally scheduled to help celebrate the opening of WBBM Ch. 2's new studios, but technical problems have postponed the station's move from its longtime home on McClurg Court. "Early Show" co-anchor Harry Smith will host the Mellencamp mini-concert. On its Web site, Channel 2 has encouraged fans "to arrive early to reserve a good spot." 6AM for a rock concert ???? I wish them luck !!!
Mellencamp will next day play the Charter One Pavillion at Northerly Island, Chicago, IL with Lucinda Williams opening. Mellencamp's latest cd, "Life Death Love and Freedom," (available here to purchase) was produced by the legendary T Bone Burnett and released this week on Starbucks' label, Hear Music.
