This week, rocker Lenny Kravitz, 44, was rumored to become the next frontman for Velvet Revolver. He had been seen in the studio with the band, which features former Guns ’n’ Roses guitarist Slash and who were looking for a well known vocalist to replace original singer, Scott Weiland on their new record. Weiland left the band in April 2008. The British newspaper, The Sun, quoted a band source as saying
'Velvet Revolver’s new album will draw heavily on their messy split with Scott. The band wanted a big name who could easily hold his own and reckon Lenny is just the man for the job.' But the truth of the rumor has gone to zip (nil), if you are to believe Kravitz's just-issued statement to a USA music magazine is to be believed. "I know and love the Velvet Revolver guys but there is no truth to the story about me joining their band," he told them. Looks like the music press and bloggers everywhere will have this story to kick around for a little longer! But where's the end?
Other rock singers in the running for the frontman slot include former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar and Liv Tyler’s husband, former Spacehog star Royston Langdon. We'll see, keep posted to MNN. In the meantime, comment back with who YOU think should be Velvet Revolver's new frontman/woman !!!!
