MUSIC NEWS - The end of TRL is near! MTV's "Total Request Live" will soon leave Times Square, NYC and the air after 10 years. The executive prodcuer of the show, Dave Sirulnick said yesterday that the music video countdown show will end with a two-hour special on a (tbd) Saturday afternoon in November. Expect to see a number of the performers who made the show great and the former host, Carson Daly. Sirulnick emphasized that the show wasn't ending for good, but feels now is the right time to give
it a rest after an amazing run on the cable music network. "TRL" began in September 1998 and became the "hot" center of the teen-pop music scene with Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys, N'Sync and other, similar performers of the day. The show peaked in 1999 with 757,000 viewers tuning in daily, according to Nielsen Media Research. From its heyday until 2008, it has been an important promo stop for musicians, movie stars and celebrities to promote their new music, movies, etc. No word from MTV on what will replace TRL.
