MUSIC NEWS- Are you ready to rock? If you got it, Cosmopolitan Magazine wants to see. They've just launched a talent competition on YouTube, called StarLaunch. The promo is sponsored by Nikon and Pantene hair products, and they're looking for entries from female fronted bands and solo artists to be uploaded to youtube.com/cosmostarlaunch by October 6, 2008.
The entries will be reduced to a top 10 on October 21 and will then be voted on by viewers at cosmopolitan.com/starlaunch. Top three acts with the most votes will move on a to live battle of the bands competition at Terminal 5 in NYC on December 5.
Prizes offered are a $10,000 cash, a three-track demo created with a hit-making record producer, up to 10 performances at Cosmo-sponsored events and one-year memberships to SESAC and Fanbridge, a fan list management service. An added bonus; Natasha Bedingfield and Solange Knowles headline the night and will perform following the battle of the bands in NYC.
