On an island in the San Francisco Bay, this second annual indie rock festival has two days of music, live art installations, a vendor village and the state’s tallest Ferris wheel. Headlining the cool roster of acts: Justice, TV on the Radio, The Raconteurs and Tegan & Sara.

Sept 26-28, Austin City Limits Festival
For it's 7th year, Austin's Zilker Park will be the site of a three-day outdoor event of the legendary Austin City Limits public tv show. Over 120 acts, including headliners Foo Fighters, Robert Plant/Alison Kraus and Beck will perform

Sept 26-28, S.F. Blues Festival
You must get to the nation's oldest blues festival ! Located on the green at Fort Mason’s Great Meadow, overlooking San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. Some of the acts scheduled for the 36th annual event: Johnny Winter, Buckwheat Zydeco and Ruthie Foster, also a tribute concert to John Lee Hooker and a documentary of the bluesman included as part of the Blues Film Series at the legendary Roxie Theatre

Oct 18-19, Joshua Tree Roots Festival
In the California desert, a two-day music festival focused around roots-rock artists. In mid-October when the intense heat will have subsided, festival has The Devil Makes Three, Trampled by Turtles, Hillstomp and others the two stages alternate acts, making it possible to catch every set

Oct 24-26, Voodoo Music Experience (new acts added !!!)
This 10th gathering hits New Orleans the weekend before Halloween will attract almost 100,000 to City Park. The three-day roster includes headliners R.E.M., Nine Inch Nails, Stone Temple Pilots and Lil Wayne.
