Music News- Kevin Cogill, the US blogger who, as previously reported, uploaded nine songs from the much anticipated Guns 'N Roses album 'Chinese Democracy' (official release date is 11/23/08) to his blog in June '08, and is facing a criminal charge as a result, has had that charge reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor. The maximum jail term Cogill could now face, if convicted, is one year, versus five. Cogill's attorney, David Kaloyanides, said prosecutors "decided that a misdemeanor was more appropriate." Next Tuesday, authorities and Kaloyanides are expected to decide on a trial date. However, "A deal may be in the offing," he said. Back in June, Cogill uploaded nine of the 14 songs from the unreleased Guns n` Roses album to his blog; "Chinese Democracy," "Better," "The Blues," "Madagascar," "There was a Time," "IRS," "Rhiad and the Bedouins," "Prostitute" and "If the World." He recently entered a Not Guiltyplea on the charges. No word from Guns n Roses or their mgmt on the news.
