MUSIC NEWS- Widely reported on the sports pages, Def Leppard's Joe Elliott goofed recently in Detroit. Though being from England and not hockey-savvy (and certainly not having a "hockey mom") he probably didn't know it. The incident occured during one of the NHL's "Face-Off Rocks" promotions at the Fox Theatre in Detriot that co-incided with the home opener of the local hockey team, the Detroit Red Wings. During their concert, While the band rocked out to the classic "Pour Some Sugar On Me," Red Wings player Darrne McCarty rode out on the stage on a motorcycle, with The Stanley Cup. To the roar of the crowd, the cup toured the stage, then to Mr Elliott. Unfortunately, he placed the holiest of holy hockey grails on the pedestal upside down.
Yes, you saw him turn the Stanley Cup the wrong way and place it on the stand upside down! Wasn't there someone there to advise him?? Didn't they explain before hand what it was?? Oh well, it's only rokc n roll !! The band now heads out of the USA for their tour of Japan, Australia and New Zealand (itinerary below) to support their latest release, Songs From the Sparkle Garden
