MUSIC NEWS- Good, bad and bad news from Neil Young. The good news; highlights from his highly prized November 9-10, 1968 shows at the Canterbury House in Ann Arbor, Mich., will be released on cd as "Sugar Mountain: Live at Canterbury House 1968" on November 25. Now, the first bad news; Young's continually delayed "Archives Vol. 1 (1963-1972)" is now officially delayed to some point (tbd) in 2009. Young has been debating whether the project will only be available on Blu-ray and DVD or whether there will be CDs sold; the latest word is that "Archives" will be DVD only. The other bad, if you were planning on seeing Neil live on November 4 and 5th; the November 4 concert at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, MO, and November 5 concert at the Qwest Center in Omaha, NE have been postponed until spring 2009 (dates tbd). Live Nation says "Routing logistics" were the cause. But, one can guess Neil has election day plans (and election celebrations) scheduled, or maybe it's the Dreamforce 2008 tech conference (Nov 2-5) in San Francisco that Neil is scheduled to speak at. Tix for the original performances will be honored for the rescheduled spring 2009 shows, which will be announced in the future (Omaha show customers, call Ticketmaster at 402.422-1212). Death Cab for Cutie and Everest were scheduled to open up for both of the concerts. Neil's No. Amer. tour resumes November 29 at the Metro Centre in Halifax, NS, and runs through December 15,16 with shows at NYC's Madison Square Garden. Neil and band then travels "down under" with appearances at the Big Day Out Festival in Australia, January 16 thru February 1, 2009.
