The CURE Named "Godlike Geniuses"

      MUSIC NEWS - British alternative rockers,  The Cure will be named "Godlike Geniuses" at the upcoming British Shockwaves NME Awards in February.  Robert Smith and group are to receive the award and perform at the awards ceremony, which will happen at London's Brixton Academy on February 25, 2009.  Previous awards have gone toe John Peel, New Order, Primal Scream, Manic Street Preachers and The Clash.

Smith told NME "The [Godlike] Genius award is given to the band, and as a band we are honored,"  About the Feb performance, he promised a special set that will showcase all of The Cure's history!  See list of 08 winners below and more of the story, here .
