MUSIC NEWS - Paul McCartney has the infamous experimental Beatles track and says it's time to release it! "Carnival of Light" is a 14-minute track the Beatles recorded but never released. IThe band only played the recording for an audience once, at an electronic music festival in London. It reportedly has 'distorted, hypnotic drum and organ sounds.distorted lrad guitar, gargling and shouts of "Barcelona!" and "Are you all right?" from McCartney and John Lennon. McCartney said that during a recording session at Abbey Road studios on January 5, 1967 he asked the others to "just wander round all of the stuff and bang it, shout, play it. It doesn't need to make any sense." McCartney had just been commissioned to create a piece for an electronic music festival at the Roundhouse Theatre. "I like it because it's The Beatles free, going off piste," he told the BBC in a radio interview to be broadcast this Thursday on BBC4. Portions of the interview were published Sunday in Britain's Observer newspaper. McCartney still has the master tape of the piece and "the time has come for it to get its moment". He said "Carnival of Light" was inspired by experimental composers John Cage and Karlheinz Stockhausen and wanted to include the track on the 1996 Beatles' "Anthology" album, but his bandmates said no. To make this release happen, he needs permission from Ringo Starr and the Lennon and Harrison's widows.
And,this month, Sir Paul releases his third experimental album of new work under the alias, The Fireman, with producer/musician, Youth. (check out one of new tracks here)
