MUSIC NEWS - The Black Keys new, fifth cd, Attack and Release, which was produced by Danger Mouse, was called their "most dynamic effort yet" by the Los Angeles Times. To follow the release, we have a seventeen-song DVD of their live performance at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon on back in April 4, 2008. Out this week (11/18) thru Nonesuch Records, entitled, The Black Keys Live At The Crystal Ballroom, was directed and produced by Lance Bangs (R.E.M.'s Road Movie). In it, you get original music videos for "Your Touch," "Just Got To Be," and "Strange Times". Also included are cool, behind-the-scenes footage of the recording of Attack and Release. In other Black Keys news, their vocalist/guitarist Dan Auerbach will take a break from the group to release a solo (debut) album early in 2009 and has announced a solo tour. The 14-song "Keep It Hid" is due February 10 from Nonesuch. He will hit the road for an 11-date solo run starting on February 28 in Washington, D.C., with Texas band, Hacienda working as his back-up band and as the opening act. Those Darlings, from Murfreesboro, TN will also be part of the tour. (see tour info below)
