MUSIC NEWS- As Ray Davies has previously stated (and we've reported), a Kinks reunion is truly in the works. He's now told the BBC "We've started a little bit of this and that", but it is too early to comment on the quality, he said. "It depends if there's good music. We want good new music. I'd like to do it as a more collaborative thing than we used to do." In the 1960's, The Kinks were one of the most popular and influential bands with a career that extended thru the 90's (with classics like- You Really Got Me, Sunny Afternoon, Waterloo Sunset and All Day And All Of The Night), with final performances in 1996. Davies previously said that a reunion was dependent on the health of his brother (and bandmate) Dave, who unfortunately suffered a stroke in 2004. Reports now are that Dave has recovered and is doing well. Ray has continued on with solo albums (Working Mans Cafe being his current cd), and solo tours and would have to schedule a reunion around his US tour, an album with a choir and an album of duets. He's planning duets with a wide range of performers, including Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell, Snow Patrol , legend Chuck Berry and some unknown talents. "I don't just want to do usual suspects," he said. "I'd love to do something with Johnny, but I'd like to find new bands. Unsigned even. I usually like the underdogs."
Good luck in your search Ray and with the Kinks reunion !
