MUSIC NEWS - Founding member of punk rock legends The Stooges, Ron Asheton (60) has been found dead at his home in Ann Arbor, MI. The cause of his death has not yet been confirmed, though initial reports are suggesting he suffered a fatal heart attack. Ron, along with his brother Scott Asheton (drummer), Dave Alexander (bass) and frontman Iggy Pop formed the band in 1967. Asheton, who played guitar and bass, can be heard on Stooges’ classics ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’, ‘Search And Destroy’ and ‘Down On The Street’. The band reunited in 2003 to play a series of live dates, and released an album, ‘The Weirdness’ last year, 2008.
