MUSIC NEWS - Squeeze co-founder, Glenn Tilbrook has announced Spring '09 USA tour dates with his current band, The Fluffers. The trek will coincide with the Feb. release of their new album, "Pandemonium Ensues (order here) ." Tilbrook will launch his new tour on March 18 in Farmingdale, NY (Long Island), and will visit fourteen cities on the US east coast through April. Full itineray is below, listing visits to Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia, NJ and NYC. Tilbrook also has a May tour of his homeland, the UK, planned.
The Fluffers; keyboardist Stephen "Lord" Large, bassist Lucy Shaw and drummer Simon Hanson have been performing since 2003 with Tilbrook. Last year, the group released its first single, "Binga Bong," an advance from "Pandemonium Ensues". The full album will be out on February 23, 2009 via Quixotic Records. The BB song is currently streaming at Tilbrook's MySpace page with a second tune, "Still," available for download starting February 2. The new album, Tilbrook's first in five years and his first full recording with The Fluffers, follows on his solo releases, 2001's "The Incomplete Glenn Tilbrook" and 2004's "Transatlantic Ping Pong." Back in 2006, he put out a feature-length documentary "Glenn Tilbrook: One for the Road" on Image Entertainment.
Tilbrook is well known for his work as part of Squeeze, the influential British pop/rock band he co-founded with Chris Difford in the mid-'70s. The band experienced a less-than-friendly split in 1999 and Tilbrook took off on his solo career, playing small venues with a mix of Squeeze tunes and new ones from his own albums. Squeeze did reunite for a tour in 2007 and played sold-out shows in America and the UK. The band has no plans to tour this year, but Tilbrook's website says the group plan to record a new studio album next year for release in 2010 and will be touring to support it.
