MUSIC NEWS - Chicago, IL rockers, WILCO plan to release their first concert film on DVD early this year. Final release date has not been announced, though it's expected in February or March 2009 in advance of their new album. It will be entitled; 'Ashes of American Flags' and will be released by Nonesuch. Recorded on the group's Feb '08 tour, it will have material from the Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa and the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. It was filmed with the assistance of Brendan Canty (Fugazi) and Christoph Green of Trixie Films. After the holiday break and their participation in Neil Finn's Seven World's Collide project in New Zealand, Wilco will resume work on their next studio album, which is planned for a Spring '09 release. Though their frontman, Jeff Tweedy has a few solo shows booked for late January at the Ann Arbor Folk Festival, Wilco have no gigs planned between now and April due to their recording schedule. After the new album's completion, the group has promised a handful of southern USA gigs in April and an extensive tour in Spain and Europe in May to be followed, by what the band calls "the usual summer hijinks with a new record and gigs everywhere imaginable."
