* The US Consumer Products Safety Commission has recalled kids' hooded sweat shirts from Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers line. The hoodies, which sell for about $75 have a drawstring through the hood that can pose a strangulation hazard, the organization said. The jackets were voluntarily recalled by their Southern California-based distributor this week. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

* The whammin', jammin' J. Geils Band plan to reunite for the first time in 10 years to perform at the House of Blues in Boston, MA, on February 19. The performance will be part of the grand opening week at the chain's newest venue. The first Boston-area House of Blues club opened in Cambridge in 1992 but closed in 2003.
* Swedish quintet THE SOUNDS will be performing new material from their upcoming studio album with a series of 30+ headlining dates in major cities worldwide, including London, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Barcelona, Montreal, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Also, beginning March 10th in Paris, France, the band will embark on a three-week European tour with Fall Out Boy, and then head to North America for a three-month trek with No Doubt. The bands new album, CROSSING THE RUBICON, is set for a May release. It's the follow-up their highly successful Dying to Say This to You. Tour details to be announced shortly.
* After their successful release of the career spanning limited edition 5 album vinyl box in November 08, Nada Surf will extend their love affair with wax. April 14th will bring us their albums The Proximity Effect, Let Go, and The Weight Is A Gift, out individually on vinyl for fans of the warm crackle sounds. They've been out of print on vinyl individually for years, and Nada Surf wanted to re-issue these records and make them available to fans who couldn't get their hands on the box-set this fall. The next night, April 15th, the Brooklyn band plays a home gig at the intimate Bell House (tix on sale Febr 13).
