Music News - Singer Morrissey has recently ended the long standing music rumor; he will never reform The Smiths. In a recent Morrissey interview with a New Zealand music publication he said, "Why? What's the point? Just to satisfy other people's nostalgia? That's all it is - nostalgia! No, I can't see any reason for it; I do not see the point. But if anybody does, I'd be delighted to hear it. "I don't think there is any (unfinished business). I really don't. Really, I'm okay by myself... And I don't say that to have dig at anybody else. So, no, I do not see the point of it, it eludes me."
The band split up back in 1987, but fans have speculated since then that Marrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr would one day reunite. Marr was forced to deny the persistent rumours in December 2008 when reports of an "imminent" reunion surfaced again. Now Morrissey has spoken up to, hopefully, put the issue to rest. His focus now is on his new music release, Years of Refusal (out Febr 17, 2009. on Decca in the UK and Lost Highway in the USA) and his upcoming world tour.
