MUSIC NEWS - Amy Winehouse is set to make a return to the concert stage, to commenorate the 50th anniversary of her record company, Island Records. This will be her first live appearance since September, 2008 ! Other Island artists, like The Fratellis, Toots & the Maytals, Paul Weller, Keane and Yusuf (Cat Stevens), will appear at the series of shows too,
Island Records is one of the most prestigious record label in the history of music, the label is collaborating with Island founder Chris Blackwell to arrange the Island 50 festival. The Island 50 festival will kick off in late May 2009 with ‘ISLAND LIFE’ – a week of live shows by Island artists past and present, which will take place at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire and starting the week of May 25, 2009. The line-up confirmed so far is :
May 26 – SLY & ROBBIE & THE COMPASS POINT ALLSTARS featuring VERY SPECIAL GUESTS;
May 27 – THE FRATELLIS; VERY SPECIAL GUEST; BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB;
May 28 – YUSUF (Cat Stevens) and friends, BAABA MAAL
May 29 – PAUL WELLER; ERNEST RANGLIN; SPOOKY TOOTH
May 30 – KEANE; TOM TOM CLUB; LADYHAWKE

UPDATE 5/21/09 - "Amy Winehouse's management has regretfully announced that Amy and her band will no longer be performing at the Shepherd's Bush Empire," her rep said in a statement. "Amy would like to apologize to her fans who bought tickets for the shows." No reason was given for the cancellation, though Britain's Press Association reported that Winehouse was taken to the hospital with chest pains.
