MUSIC NEWS - As was widely reported previously, JD Fortune, the winner of the frontman gig with the Aussie rock band INXS in the 'Rock Star INXS' TV show, said in a interview to ET Canada that he was dumped from the group during a conversation with his bandmates at an airport in Hong Kong. He also claimed he was now homeless and living in his car. The band has denied his claims, stating that they had intended to get in contact with Mr Fortune about future projects, even though the contract he won on the TV show was only for one album and one tour.
In a brand new interview with Sun Media in Canada, Fortune now says he wasn't actually fired at the airport; "That was sort of a misquote [on my part]. It was the proverbial handshake. Nobody really said, 'Thanks a lot, kid'. I thought we were going to see each other again. It was kind of like, 'Hey, hey, I'll catch up with you later'". Coincidentally, Fortune is trying to launch a solo career at the moment. Whether he'll get any INXS work after his recent comments is doubtful, their rep recently suggested not. Our advice to Mr Fortune; hire a pro PR firm before talking to the press next time. See story in Toronto Sun.
