MUSIC NEWS - True rock n roll music loses out in the NYC market with CBS Radio's move to Top 40 sounds and their shuttering of KROCK (WXRK-FM). It'll become 92.3 KNOW (NO ?) on March 11 to fight it out with NYC's Z100 to see who can play the next Britney tune (and Kanye West, Beyonce, Pink, Flo-Rida, Akon, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, etc). Out with the change in formats are Opie and Anthony (aka Greg Hughes and Anthony Cumia ) who held the morning slot off and on for years. See MediaWeek .
Radio Update 7/16/09 - Another rock radio victim, it's been announced that an iconic rock radio station; Boston’s 104.1 WBCN, “The Rock of Boston,” will leave the airwaves; on August 13th. The owner, CBS radio, plans to turn it into an all sports station. If you haven't yet, check out WAAF and alternative station WFNX for your rock music in the Beantown area.
Wow...that sucks!. Why is it..that NYC, the most exciting city in the world, has the worst radio. KROK was a great station! We have enough Top 40. They are doing the same thing to radio, as they are to t.v......analog to digital...except we hear about it every day on t.v. to get the converter.........Here,,they are just giving less so we have no choice, but buy Satellite radio......I hope they don't change 101.9 ...that station is really good too.sshhhhh don't say anything......♥♥

Why is it that everything now in days is so fake????? Everywhere, you hear Akon...and Katy Perry..and Britney Spears....wtf happaned to real music???? it really sucks, and 92.3 K-rock needs to come back, I listened to that station every day.

I understand I was hoping for something good I was shocked when I turned it on, I was like what the FCUKK?! then I thought the same I thought they were joking around. I mean it was bad enough the first time we lost 9.23 K Rock. Now we lost it again I really want them back its purebullshit if I wanted to listen to the music their playing I would simply go to Z100 or something but I don’t I came stright to 92.3 K Rock. Which to be honest with you was all I ever really listend to, now its a SHIT station I am so disapointed. Other stations suck except for Q 104.3 and 101.9 I wonder how long it will take til that station’s gone as well this is freaking pathetic. I WANT 92.3 K ROCK BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sick of this sh!t. We didn’t even have the radio station for 3 years now we lost it again to these faggot ass stations?! What the fcuk is up with this sh!t!!!!!!!! If we wanted to hear this sh!t we would go to another radio station. Now for all of us who lost our K Rock station have to find something which sadly is nothing else expect Q 104.3. No more O&A for us, or our ROCK!! Now their playing this bitch ass music. Instead of some, STP, Soundgarden and Metallica or whatever. No they got this damn rap shit playing like we need more of those stations we got Z100 and 9.55 PLJ for that and 105.1 for that crap! Now all we got is 101.9 and Q 104.3. Still ain’t enough!!!!!!!!! Smile! There is good news. If you have an HD radio, you can get K Rock on 92.3 HD2. There is no subscription fee to get it.
