MUSIC NEW - 311 has announced their anticipated new album, Uplifter, will be released on June 2, 2009 from Jive Records. Uplifter is the band’s first studio record in three years and has legendary Bob Rock (Metallica, Simple Plan, Veruca Salt) producing. As the album's name suggests, the new album is an uplifting collection of 311's trademark blend of rock & reggae; elevated by inspired songwriting, musicianship and big choruses. A deluxe edition of UPLIFTER (order it here) will include a DVD documentary, "The Road to 311 Day," directed by Wayne Price. The documentary includes interviews, backstage footage and live performances, follows the band (and fans) for the week leading up to the 3-11 Day concert event in New Orleans in 2008. 311 have also unveiled their spring tour, and their annual summer Unity Tour. The spring shows start off in Tucson, AZ on April 15 and will wrap in Springfield, MO on May 15. Their Unity Tour '09, will feature special guest Ziggy Marley and make the round of hit amphitheatres nationwide starting on June 5 in in Santa Barbara, CA and wrapping in Irvine, CA on July 12. Tickets for the spring tour are available now; with Unity Tour tickets going on sale later in the month.
UPDATE 5/27/09 - 311 is now streaming the entire album on their MySpace page through the end of today, giving a sneak peek to fans who simply can not wait that long! Be sure to also check out 311’s new video for “Hey You,” directed by Joe Lynch (Pete Yorn, Godhead).
