MUSIC NEWS - Acclaimed Canadian singer/songwriter, Matthew Barber hails from Toronto and has become a fixture on the Canadian music scene over the last five years. He's released three records and an EP with GHOST NOTES (Outside Music) out recently. He's been touring extensively across Canada and abroad, getting attention (and fans) in Europe, Australia and now the USA. With a sound certainly influenced by the tradition of folk-rock and country singer-songwriters like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Hank Williams, Leonard Cohen and Bruce Springsteen, he also shows indie-rock touches, likely from his years as a college radio DJ.
His video for AND YOU GIVE, off the new album is below, as is the album track list. Mike Ragogna of Huffington Post said wrote of the new album; "... the music never panders on Ghost Notes whose best songs merge old school Harvard Square with a hipper Washington Square Park vibe". Hear more at Barber's MySpace. He has NYC live dates booked, see him at the Living Room on May 12 and opening for Jill Sobule at Brooklyn's Union Hall and May 13.
