MUSIC NEWS - Legendary southern rockers, LYNYRD SKYNYRD have sadly lost another, bassist Donald "Ean" Evans died Wednesday after a battle with cancer. Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant said Evans died at his home in eastern Mississippi. The band posted the following on lynyrdskynyrd.com : "It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of longtime Lynyrd Skynyrd bassist Ean Evans. Ean put up a valiant battle with an aggressive form of cancer and he will be sorely missed by family, friends and fans."
Evans was born in Atlanta, later moving to Columbus after marrying his wife, Eva. He joined Floridian southern rockers, the Outlaws for a time, but moved to Lynyrd Skynyrd in 2001 after the death of previous bassist Leon Wilkeson and had been touring regularly with the band until being diagnosed with cancer in 2008, when he redcued the number of performances with the band. Survivors include his wife and two daughters. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
Long time member, keyboardist Billy Powell passed away back in January.
