MUSIC NEWS- Gov't Mule has announced a July 28 release for their new, "By a Thread" album (their 8th, and first with current bassist), the follow-up to the band's 2006 release, "High and Mighty" album, marking the band's first new studio album in three years. The new 11 tune, By A Thread, was recorded earlier this year down at Willie Nelson's Pedernales Studio, near Austin, TX (full track list below the break). The Southern jam-band-rockers are made up of vocalist/guitarist Warren Haynes, drummer Matt Abts, keyboardist Danny Louis and bassist Jorgen Carlsson. Gov't Mule is headlining next week's, May 29 thru 30 Mountain Jam at Hunter Mountain in Hunter, NY. This East Coast festival was co-founded by Warren Haynes in 2005. They'll likely show off some of the new material at the gig and on their forthcoming USA tour (full itinerary below the break).
"This record feels like we're moving between the future and the past," Haynes said in a press statement. "At heart, it feels like we're breaking new ground without forgetting our roots."
Haynes remains quite the busy performer, working as singer/guitarist for two other major band, The Dead and The Allman Brothers (who currently continue on their 40th Anniversary Tour). More on Gov't Mule at Mule.net.
