MUSIC NEWS- In praise of independent music retailers, Elvis Costello will celebrate the release of his brand new ‘Secret, Profane & Sugarcane’ album (out now via Starbucks' Hear Music label) on Monday, June 22, 2009 by performing free in-store shows at Amoeba Records San Francisco, CA and Hollywood locations (sorry Berkeley store!). Costello will kick off his one day “Amoeba Music Tour” at Noon PT with a performance at Amoeba San Francisco, then fly south for a performance at 8pm pdt at Amoeba Hollywood.
At each stop Costello will perform and sign copies of the new CD for fans. Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Jim Lauderdale will accompany Costello for each of these acoustic sets. Amoeba will stream the Hollywood in-store on Amoeba.com live at 8pm PT, and Amoeba Music's tech team will be
hitting the road with Costello to document his one day performance marathon, with both performances posted on Amoeba's site for later viewing. A special commemorative silkscreened poster will be made for the event and given away with purchase of his new, T Bone Burnette produced ‘Secret, Profane & Sugarcane’ CD on the day of the performances (while they last).
