MUSIC NEWS - Reports are circulating that a collection of never-before-heard GEORGE HARRISON songs may soon see the light of day. The late, former Beatle left a large batch of unfinished tracks when he died in 2001 and musician / friend Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra), and a member with Harrison in Traveling Wilburys
, will finish and produce them, along with Harrison's son Dhani. Dhani and Jeff finished Harrison’s final studio album, the 2002 release, Brainwashed, after Harrison died of a brain tumor at the age of 58.
“George half-finished loads of songs and often just forgot about them. There is probably an album’s worth of material. Jeff and George were very close and worked together a lot in the later period of George’s life. He’s the right man to work on the material,” said an unnamed source close to the project. Recently, Harrison’s widow, Olivia, said she wanted to do something with her husband’s incomplete songs; 'There are lots of tracks. Some are closer to completion than others and with those I’d ask for help.'
Recently, Capitol/EMI released Harrison's first-ever career-spanning solo hit spackage; Let It Roll: Songs of George Harrison. This collection is the first to span Harrison's entire solo recording career, including the No. 1 pop singles "My Sweet Lord," "Isn't It A Pity," "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)," and "Got My Mind Set On You."
If these reports are correct, we're sure Lynne and Dhanni are up for the task !
