THE LOW ANTHEM Big Label Release and Summer Tour News

      MUSIC NEWS - Rhode Island-based trio The Low Anthem have charted out their summer 2009  tour schedule to promote their debut release, Oh My God, Charlie Darwin, (buy below thru MNN) out this week via Nonesuch Records! The band's acclaimed independent release now has an revised track sequence and packaging, and has been remastered by Gateway's Bob Ludwig.   See their full itinerary below.   With three performances in three days at this year's Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and a headlining gig at NYC's Bowery Ballroom on Monday (June 15, 2009), The Low Anthem have laid the groundwork for an impressive summer.

Oh My God, Charlie Darwin was co-produced by The Low Anthem and Jesse Lauter. The band, Lauter, and several good friends went to Block Island, RI, for ten cold days in January 2008. With recording equipment along on the ferry ride, they set up shop and made the album in an empty summer cabin.  Brrrrrr!  Among the 27 instruments on the record are zither, pump organ, Tibetan singing bowl, and an oil drum. The Low Anthem pays homage to two heroes with the record's only cover, a one-take rendition of "Home I'll Never Be," with words by Jack Kerouac and music by Tom Waits.  Do check out their effort and catch them live!
