MUSIC NEWS - The British trio Muse have announced they're done recording their fifth album, entitled The Resistance, (due for a September 15 release by Warner Bros. Records). Full tracklist below. Produced by Muse, the album was mixed by famed audio engineer Mark ‘Spike’ Stent, who is known for his work with U2, Depeche Mode, No Doubt, and Oasis, among many others. In perfect timing, Muse
will perform at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards on September 13, and the band will open several U2
shows (a daunting task), including two shows at Giants Stadium in E Rutherford, NJ (NYC market), this fall (tour dates listed below).
For a few years now,
Muse, vocalist/guitarist Matthew Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dominic Howard, have played to sell-out crowds throughout the USA, Asia, Australia, and Europe in support of their previous album
Black Holes and Revelations
. In the USA, the band, which comes from the tiny town of Teignmouth in Devon, England, performed at the Lollapalooza Festival, the Austin City Limits Music Festival, Las Vegas’s Vegoose Festival, and KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas and sold out New York City’s
Madison Square Garden and The Forum in Los Angeles.
In April 2008,
MUSE released a live CD/DVD entitled
HAARP (order below thru
MNN). The release was filmed and recorded at London’s Wembley Stadium on two nights in June 2007, the DVD captures the spectacle of the band performing their hits “
Knights Of Cydonia,” “Starlight,” and
“Supermassive Black Hole” before sell-out crowds of nearly 150,000 fans. And if you forgot, “
Supermassive Black Hole” was also featured on the soundtrack to the blockbuster 2008 film
Twilight.
