MUSIC NEWS- Aerosmith's numerous medical issues continue with news that lead singer Steven Tyler, fell from the stage during a concerts at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in SD early Thursday morning. He's been airlifted to a hospital for treatment for back/neck/shoulder injuries. Mr Tyler, 61, fell from the stage while he was dancing around after the sound system failed during their performance of their song "Love In an Elevator," said Mike Sanborn, spokesman for the Buffalo Chip Campground, which hosted the outdoor concert. See video clip of incident below.
While up on a catwalk Tyler lost his balance and fell. Security personnel quickly moved in and helped him up to the cheers from the crowd. Tyler was escorted backstage around 12:15am local time. A few moments later Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry returned to the stage to announce Tyler had been taken to a hospital and the band would not continue with the show.
No word yet on the status of their shows scheduled for this weekend in Canada ( 8/7 in Winnipeg and 8/9 in Regina, SK).
Tyler's fall follows the replacement of Tom Hamilton by David Hull (Joe Perry Project), as Hamilton "recuperates from non-invasive surgery". Earlier this summer, the band was forced to postpone seven shows after Steven Tyler injured his leg at a gig in June. Guitarist Brad Whitford also missed some dates after hurting his head while getting out of his car, though he has since returned to the road with the band. Seems like Joe Perry is the only healthy one !

UPDATE 8/8/09- Guitarist Joe Perry told the AP after visiting a Chicago radio station that Tyler has now been flown to Boston with a broken shoulder and head stitches and will meet with his personal physician. Perry had not other details on Tyler’s condition and calls to Aerosmith representatives were not returned. The band will soon meet to decide how to procede with their current tour, though the Canadian leg of the tour (shows thru August 15) have been cancelled !

Too bad about Steve! I gues he needs to realize that he isn't a kid anymore.............LOL!
