MUSIC NEWS - KISS, ABBA, Darlene Love, Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, Laura Nyro, LL Cool J, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Chantels, The Hollies, Donna Summer and The Stooges are the twelve artists nominated for possible induction next year into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I don't want to sound biased, or anti-anything, but one has to wonder how RUN-DMC, or LL Cool J are being nominated. Both are VERY instrumental in the R&B / Rap / Hip Hop worlds, however, I don't believe one song as a cross-over / cover can cut it for Run DMC and despite how much I love LL Cool J, it's still not Rock n Roll to me (thanks to Billy Joel). I don't see Hall & Oates or KISS going to Nashville for the Country Hall of fame. Where would you put an R&B / Hip Hop Hall of fame - Detroit? Atlanta? NYC or LA? While Rock n Roll has greatly changed over the decades, from Elvis to the Beatles to U2 to pick a band from today, so has R&B - which would include Rap and Hip Hop. The oldtimers would say that Rock n Roll is a child of the original R&B, which I'd agree, however the children have moved apart. Else, perhaps it's time to change the Rock-n-Roll HOF to the Music HOF. Just a thought.
