MUSIC NEWS - After wrapping up their tour opening for The Killers, Aussie hard rockers, Wolfmother have announced their first North American headlining tour in over 2 years! Before parting ways with The Killers on the road, Wolfmother front man Andrew Stockdale joined Brandon Flowers & company on stage for a special cover of The Animals' classic tune, "Don't Let Me Be Understood" (view the clip, below). Their guitar driven rendition of the song marked one of the tour's many highlights and was captured on video by a fan.
Wolfmother's cross-country run will kick-off at the House of Blues in Dallas, TX on October 29, wrapping up 20 cities (and many songs) later at the legendary Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles (full tour itinerary below). Support for all shows will come from thenewno2 (Dhani Harrison, Oliver Hecks - promoting their You Are Here album ) and Heartless Bastards.
In a first for the band, Wolfmother has partnered with Musictoday & Trees for the Future, planting one tree in a third world country for every pre-sale ticket sold. Says Andrew Stockdale, "This is something I've wanted to do for some time, it's great to have the opportunity to contribute to the preservation of our environment."
And keep on track, as October 27 is the release date of the band's Cosmic Egg. Their new album recorded with UK producer Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins, nine inch nails) and follow-up to the band's 2006 self-titled debut, which included "Woman," the 2007 Grammy winner for Best Hard Rock Performance. "New Moon Rising" the first single off the record, is already working it way up the digital charts.
