MUSIC NEWS - Still saddened and shocked by the recent death of Lucy Vodden, Julian Lennon re-entered the studio this week, after a 10-year hiatus, to record “LUCY,” a duet with James Scott Cook (singer/songwriter, The Kicks). Ms Vodden, a childhood friend of Lennon’s, was the inspiration for a picture that later inspired his dad, John Lennon, to pen the classic song "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds". Elton John, Julian’s godfather, later re-recorded the song.
Mr Scott said of the recording; "I am honored to be a part of a song that might help people remember Lucy Vodden, bring some attention to Lupus and hopefully add a chapter to the unique story of inspiration that Lucy came to represent. Not to mention working with Julian Lennon was awesome."
UPDATE 12/15/09 - "Lucy" was released today (buy below thru MNN) on a four-track EP of the same
name with a portion of the proceeds beubg donated to two Lupus charities: the St. Thomas' Lupus Trust and the Lupus Foundation of America.
