MUSIC NEWS - With Bruce Springsteen's appearance at the October 29 show at Madison Sqaure Garden in doubt, ERIC CLAPTON, 64, has announced that he will be unable to appear due to gallstone sugery. Bruce cancelled his show last night in Kansas City due to the death of a cousin, a road crew member.
A statement released from Clapton's team said Eric "will spend time recuperating at home in the UK and is very sorry to disappoint the fans and the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame,"
Both rockers were scheduled to play at the two-day NYC celebration for the Rock and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary Concerts at Madison Square Garden. Others on the bill include U2, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Stevie Wonder, Simon & Garfunkel, Aretha Franklin, BB King, and more !
UPDATE 10/30/09 - Fortunately, Bruce was in attendance at the Garden last night. He hit the stage with his famous plea, “Is there anybody alive out there?” and gave even himself a jolt with guest Sam Moore, who he praised as “one of the all time great bandleaders.” He also welcomed John Fogerty for “Fortunate Son” and a pair of sweet covers: “Proud Mary” and “Pretty Woman.” While The E Street Band created their own Wall of Sound as Darlene Love joined Bruce and the team for “A Fine, Fine Boy” and “Da Doo Ron Ron.”
