MUSIC NEWS - Peter Gabriel is bringing his 'Scratch My Back' album/project to select concert venues in early 2010, with only March 27, 2010 show at the O2 in London confirmed on the New Blood - Scratch My Back Tour.
Gabriel describes the upcoming "Scratch My Back" album, due out February 15, 2020 (via Virgin Records), as a very personal record with the twelve songs performed only with orchestral instruments and voice. The material he's chosen is a diverse line up- from Bowie, Paul Simon, Bon Iver, Arcade Fire and Neil Young (among others). To help on the recording Peter enlisted John Metcalfe as composer/arranger, producer Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’, Lou Reed’s ‘Berlin’) and the engineer, mixer and producer Tchad Blake (Suzanne Vega, Sheryl Crow, Tom Waits). The project was recorded at George Martin’s Air Lyndhurst Studios and the Real World Temple with further editing back at Real World Studios in Wiltshire, UK.
Update 12/31/09 - Gabriel will perform tunes from "Scratch My Back" with an orchestra at these add'l March shows: March 22 in Paris (Palais Omnisports), March 25 in Berlin (O2 World) and March 28 in London (The O2).
