MUSIC NEWS- RIVERS CUOMO, lead singer of alt rockers, Weezer was injured in a Sunday morning tour bus crash on the New York State Thruway. The bus skidded on ice, struck a guide rail and slid into a ditch, police said. Cuomo and a band assistant, Ms Sarah Kim, were taken to an area hospital (St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY) following the accident in upstate New York, near the town of Glen (approx 40 miles west of Albany). Cuomo and Kim suffered serious injuries.
The band was enroute to Boston, MA for a Monday night gig, now cancelled, as is the entire remainder of their Raditude tour. Their seventh studio album, "Raditude" was released in November.
Police said the incident occured arouns 7:22AM, when the bus hit an ice patch and the driver lost control. The bus drove into the median, swerved back across the eastbound lanes, hit a guard rail on the right shoulder and crashed into a ditch alongside the roadway
Patrick Wilson, the band's drummer, Tweeted about the accident hours after the crash. He wrote;
"It was perfect conditions for black ice. Got loose going towards the meridian, driver saves it but bus goes thru guardrail into 6ft ditch."
