THE FLAMING LIPS have teamed up with their Oklahoma City, OK brothers,
STARDEATH AND WHITE DWARFS to record their own unique take of Pink Floyd’s 1973 classic rock album
THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON. They've confirmed the release will be available online only beginning
December 22, and released as
"THE FLAMING LIPS and STARDEATH AND WHITE DWARFS WITH HENRY ROLLINS AND PEACHES DOING THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON.”

The project was recorded after several weeks of both bands touring the world together and mutually citing the classic British rock band,
Pink Floyd
and their “
The Dark Side of the Moon
” album as one of their primary influences and favorite bands of all time. The sessions were tracked in Oklahoma City and recorded by Trent Bell and Chris Harris, and mastered by Dave Fridmann. The album was co-produced by
The Flaming Lips
, Stardeath and White Dwarfs, Trent Bell, and Scott Booker, and features vocal assistance by
Henry Rollins and
Peaches.
iTunes will get the exclusive for one week only on the release, then on Dec 29th, the album will be available through all digital shoppes. You will be blown away by this inventive and modern interpretation of one of the most enduring and beloved cornerstones in the history of recorded rock music. This recording is purely a labor of love and a truly essential part of your music collection this holiday season.

As previously announced,
THE FLAMING LIPS and
STARDEATH AND WHITE DWARFS will play their last show of 2009 on New Year’s Eve at the Cox Center in Oklahoma City, OK. Both bands will play full live sets and at midnight, will also perform their version of
“The Dark Side Of The Moon” in its entirety. This is the only planned live performance of “
