MUSIC NEWS - While the recent release of a live album from his 2008 Glitter and Doom tour was rewarding, even better is that Tom Waits recently revealed he's begun writing songs for his first new studio album since 2006's “Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards”, the three-disc set that included some older rare tunes. A new album could makes its way out in 2010, though he recently told "Pop & Hiss', “Anything I would tell you right now, I would just be making it up.
“We may record sometime in the spring,” he said during a phone interview with the LA Times music blog from his home in Sonoma County. “You're never sure how long it will take. You write two songs and you put them in a room together and they have offspring.”
A busy man of late, along with the live album he's in two feature films about to hit theatres: Terry Gilliam's “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus,” opening Friday from Sony Pictures Classics, and then the “The Book of Eli” with Denzel Washington in January .
