MUSIC NEWS - Another summer music festival goes away for this year. After reporting last month that the 10,000 Lakes music festival in Minnesota is on "hiatus", we can now confirm that the Rothbury Music Festival (Rothbury, MI) won't happen this year. The organizers, Madison Productions and AEG Live, have announced that they will skip 2010 and re-group for a 2011 event.
"We are not able to move forward with the integrity and high standards that we demand from ourselves and for the festival," said Jeremy Stein of Madison House Presents.
This year's fest would have been their third. Of course it's sad news, but a reflection of the USA economy and the overall state of the live concert biz with the larger festivals able to attrack "big" talent, making it difficult for the newer fests to sign the acts needed to get a large audience.
Last year, Rothbury 2009 was able to secure a strong line-up with The Dead, Willie Nelson, Gov't Mule and Bob Dylan, among others at the Double JJ Resort.
