THE LOW ANTHEM Announce 2010 Tour Dates; Charlie Darwin Follow-Up News

MUSIC NEWS - The Rhode Island indie rock trio The Low Anthem will embark on their first North American tour this March and April and make their US television debut on the Late Show with David Letterman this week ( Thursday, January 14t). They're  also spending most of February supporting The Avett Brothers on the road (full itinerary below).
 
2009 was a key year for The Low Anthem, touring for most of the year to support, Oh My God, Charlie Darwin, (their Nonesuch Records debut).  The release was named Magnet's #1 Album of 2009, UNCUT's "Americana Album of the Year," and Boston Music Awards' "Album of the Year".   It was also a New York Times Critic's Pick, and NPR's Bob Boilen coined the song "Charlie Darwin" one of the best of the year. The practically endless tour included runs with Ray Lamontagne, Elvis Perkins, and Josh Ritter, as well as festival stops at Bonnaroo, Glastonbury and Newport Folk, among others.

During a rare break from the road, the band been's busy hard at work on the Charlie Darwin follow-up, using an abandoned pasta sauce factory in Central Falls, RI.  Not the first time in an odd space for the group, since they used Block Island, RI in January 2008 for the recording of Darwin. No word on the new album title yet, or release date, but MNN is in a hurry for more from the group.

In other band news, Ben Knox Miller recently collaborated on Anais Mitchell's upcoming album, Hadestown, right there with Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, Greg Brown, Ani DiFranco and the Haden Triplets (Petra, Rachel, and Tanya).
