MUSIC NEWS - Warner Bros. Entertainment will rebrand its in-house music label, ending New Line Records. Beating Sony to the name, WB will put out future releases on the new " WaterTower Music" label, said New Line president and COO Toby Emmerich (hey, I guess they could have called it Burbank Lot Music). WaterTower starts right away and will be run by Jason Linn. Linn started the label at New Line back in 2000.
Under the new moniker, the label will release product from all Warner divisions. The Hollywood Reporter quotes Emmerich as saying; "The notion of marketing music hand-in-hand with film has always been exciting to us". "With both divisions now under the same umbrella, the sky is the limit. This is the
vision Jason and I shared when we launched the label 10 years ago, and we're thrilled to be given this opportunity to expand within Warner Bros. and serve a multidivisional agenda."
NL recently earned a Grammy nom for "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince", a Golden Globe nomination for best original score for "The Informant!" and a Broadcast Film Critics nomination for "Sherlock Holmes". Upcoming, WaterTower has the soundtrack to "Valentine's Day" (out on February 9). The release will feature Taylor Swift's new tune "Today Was a Fairytale".
