MUSIC NEWS - Wilco has added 16 concerts in Eastern US cities beginning in Miami, FL on March 22 and wrapping up in Pittsburgh, PA on April 11. The concerts are presented as “An Evening with Wilco” and will feature extended, varied sets exploring material from each of the Chicago sextet’s seven studio albums. The tour includes concerts in Clearwater, Savannah, Atlanta, Durham, Richmond, Bethesda, Montclair NJ (NYC area), Providence, Boston, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and features Wilco’s first concerts Scranton, PA, Concord, NH and Hartford, CT.
Ticket presales for the new dates start Wednesday, January 6 at 10 am EST via the band’s official website, Wilcoworld.net. All other tickets go on sale Friday, January 8 and Saturday, January 9. Check the band's site or individual concert venue for details.
With these added dates, the band will continue what was already a busy start of 2010 for them. Later this month they'll be in L.A. for the 2010 MusicCares Person of the Year event to honor Neil Young. While in town they make their debut performance on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (January 28). Next month (February) they hit the road on the previously announced of the Pacific Northwest, the upper Midwest and their most extensive Canadian tour in their 15-year history. Previously announced tour dates in Japan, New Zealand and Australia follow in April and May (ffull list tour itinerary is below).
Wilco’s latest studio album, the Grammy-nominated Wilco (The Album) has landed on many critic’s year end polls as one of the best albums of 2009. As you likely know, WILCO was founded by Jeff Tweedy in 1995 with bassist John Stirratt, Wilco is Jeff Tweedy (guitars, vocals), John Stirratt (bass, vocals), Glenn Kotche (drums), Nels Cline (guitars), Pat Sansone (guitars, keyboards, vocals) and Mike Jorgensen (keyboards, vocals). The band has seven seven studio albums, a live album and a live DVD as well as two collaborations with Billy Bragg performing Woody Guthrie tunes.
