MUSIC NEWS - Five NYC ALLMAN BROTHERS SHOWS were cancelled today ! The March 22 thru 27 shows at the United Palace Theatre were scrapped today via an announcement on the ABB website. Details are sketchy with the announcement only saying that the changes were "due to an unforeseen family matter." As of yet we have not received a reply from their management requesting more info.
We wonder how much impact on ticket sales the band's forced move uptown to the United Palace Theatre impacted sales. The traditional Beacon Theatre gigs had become a NYC institution and the unfamiliarity with the Washington Heights neighborhood may have caused some suburban fans to think twice about heading up there. The expensively priced tickets probably didn't help either !
Don't stress, as the March 11thru 20 concerts at the United Palace are still on as scheduled. The band will still host the Wanee Festival in Florida (April 16 & 17), perform at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (April 23-25) and at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Festival on June 26 in Chicago.
