Delta Spirit Announces Tour and New Album

MUSIC NEWS  -The new Delta Spirit record has been announced for a June 8, 2010 release. Entitled History From Below, the record was produced by My Morning Jacket's keyboardist Bo Koster and Eli Thomson and will be out via Rounder Records. History From Below is the follow upto the Americana soul rockers' critically acclaimed debut, 2008's Ode to Sunshine, which was hailed by numerous critics - Filter called it "pure joy" and Jim Fusilli of the Wall Street Journal said, "I make no pretense of objectivity with Delta Spirit, I love these guys."

"All we wanted to do is put the record together one song at a time," says Delta Spirit's singer/guitarist Matthew Vasquez about History From Below.

ROCK ON THE RANGE Fest Announces Daily Line Ups

MUSIC NEWS - With a power-packed line-up led by Godsmack, Limp Bizkit, Rob Zombie, Slash and Three Days Grace, promoters of the ROCK ON THE RANGE music festival have announced the daily line-up for the May 22 and 23 event at the Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, OH.  And, single day, general admission tickets will be available on Wednesday, March 31.  

Amping up the ROTR experience this year are Mistress Juliya of Fuse TV and Mötley Crüe and Sixx:A.M.’s  Nikki Sixx.  The dark and alluring Mistress Juliya is serving as the hostess and Mistress of Ceremonies for the event, and Sixx will host his nationally syndicated Premiere Radio Networks show “Sixx Sense” from the festival, offering rock fans across the country an inside look at the fourth annual event.  

SUNSET STRIP MUSIC FEST to Honor SLASH

MUSIC NEWS - Legendary rock guitarist SLASH is to be honored at the third annual SUNSET STRIP MUSIC FESTIVAL (SSMF). SSMF will celebrate Slash, who is synonymous with The Sunset Strip, for not only his contributions to the history of The Strip, but to the entire music biz as well. The tribute event kicks off the three-day music fest and honors icons who have made an impact on the legacy of The Sunset Strip. The August 26 event will take place at the House of Blues Sunset Strip.  And, the City of West Hollywood will also declare Aug. 26, 2010, “Slash Day.”

“I am sincerely overwhelmed to be the recipient of the Sunset Strip Music Festival honors! The Strip and West Hollywood have been my stomping grounds since I was a little kid,” noted Slash. “I grew up in and around the music scene here. It is where I got my start in the music business and where I still feel most at home. Thank you so much.”

HOLLY GOLIGHTLY and the Brokeoffs New "Medicine County"

MUSIC NEWS - The Wall Street Journal recently ran a feature on one of our favs, Holly Golightly and The Brokeoffs. Holly & company are releasing a new album this week, 'Medicine County' out via Transdreamer Records. In the piece that we wanted to share with you, the duo discusses their new farm in Georgia and words and phrases that they refuse to sing (including "Florida" and "make love"). OZZY OSBOURNE to Reveal New Tune on CSI:NY

MUSIC NEWS - Ozzy Osbourne's new song, "Let Me Hear You Scream," (off his soon to be released  Scream album on Epic Records) will get its world premiere on an episode of CSI: NY. The tune will appear on the Wednesday, April 14 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) episode, on CBS.

In the episode, "Redemptio," a death row inmate's (guest star Harold Perrineau, "Lost") final request brings Dr. Hawkes (series regular Hill Harper) to a Pennsylvania prison and face-to-face with a tragic incident that he has kept secret for many years, just as a prison riot erupts and traps Hawkes inside.  The story was written by executive producer Peter M. Lenkov, with the teleplay by Lenkov and Bill Haynes.

Phish 3D Film Celebrates Festival 8

MUSIC NEWS - Phish 3D, a 3D concert experience, will hit theatres nationwide on Friday, April 30 for an exclusive one week run.  The two+ hour movie, presented by Action 3D Productions in association with Network LIVE and Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp., highlights Phish’s Festival 8, a three-day, eight-set, 16-hour concert in the Southern California desert. 

Prior to the nationwide roll-out, exclusive preview screenings will be shown in nine cities -- Boston; Burlington, VT; Chicago; Denver; Houston; Los Angeles; New York; Raleigh/Durham, NC; and Washington, D.C. on April 20.  Fans that attend the advance showings get a Phish 3D movie poster. The fully immersible music and visual experience, featuring state-of-the-art 3D technology, gives viewers the sense that they are not only at the event, but on stage with the band.  Phish 3D features fan favorites, never before seen cover songs, and intimate footage of the band backstage and in rehearsals. 

2010 Lilith Tour Adds More Artists

MUSIC NEWS - Teen sensation Selena Gomez and Mexican singer/songwriter Jenni Rivera are the latest artists added to The 2010 Lilith Tour line-up. And Lilith organizers have revealed details (artists, dates, venues) for six more cities of the Live Nation produced summer festival, including the Sunday, June 27 tour start up at Calgary’s McMahon Stadium. Tickets for the newly announced; which also include Edmonton, Vancouver, San Diego, Los Angeles and Denver—go on-sale Saturday, April 3 via LilithFair.com and LiveNation.com.

As details about Lilith ’10 continues to be released, the first musical pairing of the summer is set for tonight (March 25) when Lilith founder Sarah McLachlan teams with Emmylou Harris (another Lilith ’10 artist) for a special performance of McLachlan’s hit song “Angel” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (ABC 12:05/11:05 CT).  

2010 Newport Folk Festival Line Up Announced

MUSIC NEWS - The timeless spirit of an open-hearted, old-fashioned family reunion is being revived this year for the 51^st edition of the Newport Folk Festival, which starts July 30 at the International Tennis Hall of Fame at Newport Casino and continues July 31 and August 1 at FortAdamsState Park in Rhode Island.

 

Tickets go on sale worldwide on Friday, March 26, at 10 am via newportfolkfest.net.

AFI Joins Green Day Tour

MUSIC NEWS - A double bill that is sure to set any punk rocker's heart on fire, AFI and Green Day have announced they will hit the road together for a late summer tour starting up August 3rd. The tour will mark another piece of joint history for the two iconic bands who both got their starts in the Nor Cal scene. While both bands have come a long way from their Gilman days the tour will give fans the chance to experience an epic night of music rooted in the East Bay!

CRASH TEST DUMMIES Back With "Oooh la la"

MUSIC NEWS - Crash Test Dummies have announced plans to release Oooh la la!, their first record in six years, May 11 via Deep Fried Records. Best known for 1993’s platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated God Shuffled His Feet and the ubiquitous hit “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm,” frontman and driving creative force Brad Roberts teams up with co-writer and producer Stewart Lerman (Antony & the Johnsons, The Roches) to write and record 11 tracks conceptualized using `70s-era analog musical toys.

The seeds for Oooh la la! were first planted when Roberts and Lerman became infatuated with vintage analog musical toys, particularly one manufactured by the Mattel company called the Optigan (an acronym for “optical organ”). Using celluloid discs, the Optigan projects the sounds of other instruments with different sets of keys triggering chords and individual notes. The discs, with names like “Nashville,” “Swing It!” and “Guitar Boogie,” rotate to produce different arrays of sounds.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Back With Album and Tour

MUSIC NEWS -  STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have announced the upcoming release of their hugely anticipated self-titled studio album "STONE TEMPLE PILOT" (out May 25 via Atlantic Records, track list below).  This will be the first studio release since 2001's certified gold "Shangri-La Dee Da."  The new album will bring back themagic that has est ablished the band as a dominate force in the rock scene for the past two decades, featuring tracks that original bassist, guitarist and vocalist, Robert DeLeo recently told SPIN magazine that they're  musically reminiscent of  "Paul Revere and the Raiders" driven by the sound of the sixties.  (that got our interest !)
 
STP kicked off their North American tour with a special SXSW showcase at famed Austin Music Hall on March 18th. This time out, Stone Temple Pilots is comprised of all four original band members; Scott Weiland, lead vocals - Robert DeLeo, bass, guitar, vocals -  Deab DeLeo, guitar - Eric Kretz, drums, percussion.

ORIANTHI To Appear on American Idol

MUSIC NEWS - While the amazing guitarist, Orianthi continues to rock us with live appearances a new single "According to You" (the first off debut album Believe), she just announced that she'll join pop sensation Ke$ha as a guest performer on Wednesday's live American Idol results show (March 17).  Watch on FOX at 9:00 pm EST to rock out with Ori to "According to You".  She'll also perform the following night, Thursday, March 18, on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Dave Grohl, THEM CROOKED VULTURES, Reveals His Addiction

MUSIC NEWS - Another tale of rock star addication is revealed in the recently released footage contained in "Fresh Pots".  This time we learn of the affects on a band, shown in the haunting vignette of Dave Grohl's dependency of the coffee bean. To save Dave, Them Crooked Vultures have released a short video on how the addiction spiraled out of control, and just how bad it got. With a look of sheer terror on Joshua Homme's face he chronicles Grohl's daily coffee intake, speculating that Grohl "probably has 5 fresh pots a day!" See it all unfold below-

KINGS OF LEON Unveil Summer 2010 Tour Plans

Nashville rockers, Kings of Leon, have announced their summer 2010 touring plans. Their summer run starts off on June 5th in Atlantic City, NJ, then works its way around the USA before ending  on September 23rd in Dallas, TX at the Superpages.com arena.  The Bonnaroo 2010 headliners will be playing 32, mostly outdoor-amphitheatre shows on this trek and are supporting their 2008 release, Only By the Night (out via Sony Music), though we expect to hear some new tunes at these shows.

MUSIC NEWS -  Barenaked Ladies have just released their new video for the new tune, "You Run Away".  The song is from their upcoming album,  All In Good Time, which will be out in Canada on March 23rd and in the USA on March 30th (hey !!! ??? )
