MUSIC NEWS - The brand new MG&V means McCauley, Goldsmith, and Vasquez, and by that we're referring to, John McCauley - frontman of Deer Tick, Taylor Goldsmith - frontman of Dawes and Matt Vasquez - frontman of Delta Spirit. Now you know.
With no patience for down time, John McCauley had the urge to write and record during some of Deer Tick's recent break. With Deer Tick havong chosen Dawes to support a leg of their summer 2009 tour, McCauley and Goldsmith developed an affinity for each other's songwriting. McCauley had lated decided that Nashville, TN would be the perfect location to work on some new songs and invited Goldsmith to join him on the new venture.
As the project developed, McCauley and Goldsmith decided Matt Vasquez was the man to complete their vision for the project and contacted him. Not long after the initial recording began, Vasquez arrived in Nashville raring to go to it even though he had never having actually met McCauley. The three songwriters immediately bonded and worked to make the shared vision come alive. Dawes drummer Griffin Goldsmith also joined the group to contribute percussion.
We're looking forward to hearing some tracks, and the whole album, but in the meantime MG&V will make its world debut at the Coda Agency SXSW Showcase at the Ale House next Friday, March 19th at 1AM. Exact album details are still tbd, but it due for a 2010 release. Expect MG&V announcements at, where else, twitter.com/MGandV.
