MUSIC NEWS- From the BAD NEWS / GOOD NEWS file!! Sadly it's true- Justin Townes Earle cut up his hand recently and required 19 stitches to put him back together. So, he's unable to play his 1st Newport Folk Festival this weekend in Newport, RI (Rochester, NY on 7/29 and Northampton, MA at the Iron Horse on 7/30 cancelled too).
Fortunately, the Folk Music Gods were indeed smiling. Exactly 45 minutes after receiving the news from Earle's agent, Elvis Perkins In Dearland happened to call the organizers for tickets to the festival. As good promoters to, they thought fast and upped Elvis one...and asked if they would like to play the treasured music fest, and they said YES!!!!
So, without further ado, please welcome ELVIS PERKINS IN DEARLAND to the 2010 Newport Folk Festival Lineup! Also watch for Elvis supporting Norah Jones on some August tour dates.
And rest up, heal fast Justin!!!
