MUSIC NEWS- As MNN reported in 2009, NOAH AND THE WHALE had their equipment stolen after a UK gig. Today we get word that two men involved in the theft were sentenced (January 28). The equipment, which had been returned to the band after the incident, was stolen after they played a show at Manchester's Club Academy on September 29, 2009.
The UK's Manchester Evening News reports that Joseph Breeze and his nephew Harold Breeze were both convicted of handling stolen goods at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court. Neither were apparently involved in the theft, they were both identified by witnesses putting the stolen amplifiers, guitars and cases into another vehicle. Joseph Breeze, was sentenced to four years in prison for handling stolen goods and on a separate assault charge. Harold Breeze received a one year suspended sentence, and ordered to perform 180 hours of community service.
Suspicions centred around the two when one of Noah And The Whale's amps was found at Joseph Breeze's apartment. The remainder of the equipment was traced by police and found at a local barn.
