Jack White streamed his Friday night New York CIty concert online in full, and if you missed it, or want to see it again, Music News Net has it in its entirity, below.

The performant was directed by actor Gary Oldman with White performing tracks from his new debut solo album 'Blunderbuss' alongside classic songs from his various musical incarnations during the show. The nearly two hour show has White perform solo hits such as 'Sixteen Saltines' alongside White Stripes hits such as 'Hotel Yorba' and 'Seven Nation Army'.

Gregg Allman Postpones Book Tour Due to Health Issues

MUSIC NEWS- Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and southern rock music legend Gregg Allman will undergo diagnostic cardiac testing stemming from his recent hernia operation and is postponing his promo book tour as a result. The procedure, scheduled for April 27th at Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, FL, (where the singer previously received a liver transplant in June 2010) will determine what, if any, additional medical attention may be required.

Given these circumstances, William Morrow, Allman's book publisher, today announced a temporary delay of the publicity tour to promote his forthcoming May 1 releasing memoir, MY CROSS TO BEAR. 

 

New York Radio Icon, Pete Fornatale, Dead at 66

MUSIC NEWS- Award-winning disk jockey, rock historian and author Pete Fornatale, the host of Mixed Bag on WFUV and a New York radio icon for more than 40 years, died on Thursday in NYC due to complications from a recent stroke. He was  66. A private funeral mass is planned and WFUV (90.7 FM, wfuv.org) will offer an on-air celebration of his life and career on Saturday, May 5 from 4 to 8pm.

“This is a devastating loss, not just for his family, friends, and colleagues at WFUV, but for radio listeners everywhere,” said Chuck Singleton, interim general manager of WFUV. “Pete was a beloved air personality for four decades and a master communicator. His influence as a pioneer of progressive FM radio is almost incalculable.”

 

Jackson Browne Announces Summer Acoustic Tour

MUSIC NEWS- Singer/songwriter/activist Jackson Browne has announced another series of solo concerts for this summers.  Without a planned setlist Browne goes with
the "flow" at these shows on guitar and piano, so you experience a unique event each night.

On the bill with Jackson is Nickel Creek founding member Sara Watkins, who is releasing her second solo album, Sun Midnight Sun, on May 8 via Nonesuch Records.

Browne’s latest acoustic journey begins in Charlotte, NC on July 14 before wrapping up in Cleveland Heights, OH, August 15.

 

GILLIAN WELCH Spring Tour Dates Revealed

MUSIC NEWS - A string of spring tour dates by Gillian Welch were announced today by Acony Records. The duo of Welch and David Rawlings will hit a batch of major USA cities, including San Diego, Austin, and Dallas, on a two-week run. Welch and Rawlings will be performing songs from The Harrow & The Harvest, Welch's 2011 GRAMMY-nominated record. 

 

THE HIVES Announce North American June Tour

MUSIC NEWS - The Hives (Howlin' Pelle Almqvist, Nicholaus Arson, Chris Dangerous, Dr. Matt Destruction, and Vigilante Carlstroem) have announced a North American concert tour that'll kick off June 19 in Washington DC.  The shows will follow the release of their new album Lex Hives, due out June 5 via the band's own Disques Hives label, and come in advance of an extensive USA headlining tour in the works for this Fall (details forthcoming). 

 

 Tickets will go on sale to the general public, Friday, April 27 at 10:00am EDT via Ticketmaster.

 

The band made a return to the live stage with two explosive Coachella performances, which were widely regarded by nearly all as a festival highlight. During the first weekend, Howlin' Pelle Almqvist enticed the crowd of thousands to sit down during their final song, then rise back up en masse. However on the second weekend, he upped the ante by getting the entire crowd to lie down! 

 

SINEAD O'CONNOR Decides to Hold Off on Touring

MUSIC NEWS- Troubled singer Sinead O'Connor announced she is canceling her 2012 tour due to her bipolar disorder.  She made the announcement Monday in a posting on her website. She wrote that she is "very unwell" and had been advised by her doctor to not hit the road after her "very serious breakdown between December and March." 

In December, O'Connor announced her split from therapist Barry Herridge after 16 days of marriage.The Irish singer-songwriter is best known for the early 1990s hit "Nothing Compares 2 U."  Her latest album - "How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?"  was released this February. The 45-year-old says she had planned the tour because of the album's release, but was "attempting to be stronger than I actually am."

DEFTONES Announce Summer Tour With System of a Down

MUSIC NEWS - Alternative rock band Deftones have announced a summer tour supporting System Of A Down. The two-week summer run launches on August 2nd in Philadelphia, PA and wraps up on August 15th in Chicago, IL. 

Deftones have continually crossed-over genres, defied categorization and delivered compelling live performances around the world and are currently in Los Angeles, CA recording their seventh studio full-length with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Alice In Chains, Foo Fighters, Rush) who also produced Diamond Eyes. The album will be released via Reprise Records later this year.

ASIA Announces 30th Anniversary Album, World Tour Plans

MUSIC NEWS - Prog rockers, ASIA, featuring the original line-up of Geoff Downes (keyboards), Steve Howe (guitar), Carl Palmer (drums) and John Wetton (bass, lead vocals) will release a new studio album entitled “XXX” on Monday July 2 in the UK. The new album coincides with news of the band’s upcoming 30^th Anniversary World Tour (details tba) and the collectors’ edition of their eponymous debut album.

Thirty years after their eponymous debut album, ASIA ascended to the top of the Billboard Top 100 chart (where the album remained No.1 for nine consecutive weeks). The new album, “XXX”, was produced by Mike Paxman, and features a stunning front cover illustration by the legendary Roger Dean. “XXX” has been hailed already as ASIA’s best album since their classic early 80s releases. The album will be released on CD, collector’s edition CD/DVD (featuring new music videos and behind the scenes footage), and on a limited edition vinyl.

SQUACKETT, Steve Hackett & Chris Squire, Is Born

MUSIC NEWS - Two prog-rock music legends; bassist Chris Squire and guitarist Steve Hackett, have confirmed news of their new music project (band?), Squackett.  Though sounding like an old Genesis song, their debut album, A Life Within A Day, sounds appealing and will be released May 29 via the UK's Esoteric Antenna.

Squackett also will release a limited-edition 7-inch single; "Sea of Smiles" backed with "Perfect Love Song" on  April 21.

Forecastle 2012 Fest Line Up Revealed- My Morning Jacket, Wilco, Neco Case, Mike Doughty, Bassnectar & More

MUSIC NEWS - After weeks of tempting us and teasing fans with pictures, sound clips, and taunts, Forecastle Festival finally announced its full 2012 lineup.  One of our favs, MikeDoughty will be playing the Louisville, KY music fest on Sunday July 15 as part of a solid roster of artists that includes Wilco, Neco Case, Clutch, and A-Trak.  The event starts on Friday, July 13 (runs thru the 15th) with Bassnectar, Sleigh Bells, Head and the Heart, and many others.  Saturday brings us My Morning Jacket, Dr Dog, Andrew Bird, Wye Oak, Justin Towne Earle and too many to list!

Three-day weekend and VIP passes are currently on sale. And, two-day and three-day travel packages are available, including accommodations at the acclaimed Galt House; the festival’s official waterfront hotel, located a short walk from the festival site.  Additionally, these packages will include tickets to the late night after parties, which are currently unannounced. Those wishing to “dock up” for the weekend may also purchase a very limited number of “Captain’s Club” VIP boat slips, which are located at the festival site.

About the video, acclaimed Czech director Hedi Rose explains, “It’s summer, it’s full of hope, it’s exciting, it’s alive, it makes you want to dance and sing along. That is what Glen’s ‘Love Don’t Leave Me Waiting’ feels like. We shared this feeling with a group of young men and women, who very spontaneously and generously got involved in making of our video. I only followed the instinctive lead of music, by capturing and editing together this footage of an amazing Jamaican afternoon.”

 

LEVON HELM Losing His Cancer Battle

MUSIC NEWS - Levon Helm, drummer for THE BAND and a treasured voice in Americana music, is losing his decade-long battle with cancer, his family announced on Tuesday. "Levon is in the final stages of his battle with cancer," a message reads on Helm's website.

"Please send your prayers and love to him as he makes his way through this part of his journey."  The message was signed by his daughter Amy, an artist who often performs with Levon and his wife, Sandy.  Mr Helm, 71, was diagnosed in the late 1990s with throat cancer and has undergone intensive radiation treatment which greatly damaged his voice.

 

Outside Lands 2012 Festival Reveals Line Up

MUSIC NEWS- Another Planet Entertainment, Superfly Presents and Starr Hill presents, in a partnership with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, are proud to announce the lineup for the fifth annual Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival. The world's only gourmet music festival will once again take place in San Francisco's historic Golden Gate Park August 10 - 12, 2012. Tickets will go on sale Thursday April 19 at 12 noon PDT via SFOutsideLands.com.  A significant portion (promoters haven't yet disclosed the exact per cent) of every ticket sold will directly benefit San Francisco's Recreation and Park Department. 

Outside Lands' fifth  lineup represents an expansion on the traditions of the festival  and will feature a wide array of sets from established artists, newcomers, and the icons who inspired them. Featured this year are two Bay Area giants, Neil Young & Crazy Horse and Metallica, the latter of whom, on the heels of their 30^th anniversary, will be performing in their home park for the first time ever.

THE FRAY and KELLY CLARKSON Announce Co-Headline Tour

MUSIC NEWS- Grammy nominated The Fray and Kelly Clarkson are joining up for a thirty plus city co-headlining summer tour that starts on July 21^st in Ridgefield, Washington, ending on September 15^th in Nashville, TN.

Both acts will be promoting their most recent albums (Kelly Clarkson – Stronger and The Fray – Scars & Stories). 

Ticket on-sales will begin on Friday, April 20 at 10AM.
